Let me tell you more about the Foundation.
National Breast Cancer Foundation was founded in 1991 by a breast cancer survivor, Janelle Hail. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1980 at the age of 34. At the time of her diagnosis, there was little information about the disease, and she was forced to make a decision about her health with few options. After her treatment, Janelle made a commitment to help women around the world by educating them about breast cancer and the importance of early detection.NBCF’s mission is to help women now by providing help and inspiring hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education, and support services.
1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. There is currently no known cure for breast cancer, and its early diagnosis is critical to survival.
NBCF offers free, innovative programs that other organizations aren’t providing to women facing breast cancer so that no one faces breast cancer alone.
NBCF is one of the most recognized and respected breast cancer charities in the world. NBCF has received the highest 4-star rating by Charity Navigator, America’s premier charity evaluator, for 14 years. On average, over 80% of our revenue is directed to our life-saving programs.
Anyone can join the cause and become a supporter to provide help and hope to women in need at every step of the breast cancer journey. You can contribute to the cause either individually or via organizations. As an individual it can be done as a donation - $150 provides a mammogram for a woman in need or by getting involved with friends and family to start or join a fundraiser.
Organizations have the possibility to partner with NBCF. No matter the size, big and small, companies can make a difference. Donation is also possible to join in helping women in need today!
They also offer flexible volunteering alternatives for those who want to give back. You can help with packing HOPE or Breast Health Kits.
Ladies of Hope is a monthly gathering of women who volunteer together on the 2nd Friday of every month at the NBCF office in San Francisco, California.
You can also volunteer by writing Encouragement Cards. These cards are delivered in HOPE Kits to women facing breast cancer all across the country.
